Novell Client and Universal Password Issue

A new eDirectory tree was developed and synchronized from the production tree through the use of universal passwords.

There are two ways to change passwords to universally synchronize across the network; assuring access to enterprise applications like Blackboard, MyNIU, Financials, and HR:

• Change the password via the Novell client, version 4.91 SP5 or better.
  OR
  
• Change the password using the self-service password change/reset utility: password.niu.edu. So if the client is not upgraded, passwords must be changed from the password.niu.edu site.

Use NIUNT Password Checker to verify that your password is in sync.

Novell client, version 4.91 SP5 can be found at Helpdesk Central > Toolbox > Software Downloads > Novell. Maintaining workstations at the current Novell client version will alleviate many security-related concerns.

Departments using an old Novell client

If the departments you support are not listed, no further action on your part is necessary.
